                                                               Montessori workshop for teachers

                                 “Early childhood education is the key to the betterment of society.”

 

A very informative 5 days workshop was conducted at DPS, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram on the topic ‘Montessori Ways of Learning’ for our kindergarten, grade 1 and 2 educators from 25th May- 31st May 2018. They were introduced to Maria Montessori’s life, philosophies and discoveries which lead to the Montessori material and their study. The material aims at the motor development, vocabulary building, development of mathematical mind, social grace and courtesy. The study gets divided into Practical life exercises (PLE) modules which refer to the daily activities related to our lives. They are the activities which fundamentally lay the foundation for gross motor skills, fine motor skills, dexterity, left to right movement, make students ready for reading and writing, lightness of touch and evenness of pressure aiming at readiness to hold the writing instrument to write.

DPS, Gurugram, Sector 102, A, firmly believes in Montessori ideology and has thus made a Mont lab which has didactic pool of material with an aim to make a self-learner, independent, self-sufficient. Teachers had hands on experience of using this material and learnt how to imbibe it in DPS curriculum. The foundation years of child are nurtured under the best expertise of our Montessori trained teachers who fulfill the strong belief system of our school.

                                                SPARTAN TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP

                                                   “Competitors push you to achieve more”

     

    DPS, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram along with Spartans Taekwondo Academy organized the Taekwondo championship on 21st May 2018 to give a bigger platform to students to outshine and work harder.

    The Spartans Taekwondo Academy, founded in 2013, is based on the philosophy of taekwondo
    courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control & indomitable Spirit.

    They strive to provide an overall nurturing environment for students to push them out of their comfort zones, to achieve something great in physical, mental and technical aspects of this sport, so as to grow & excel personally as well as professionally. Our students get training and guidance by well-trained, enthusiastic, and experienced professionals. Our aim is to build an all-around personality of the students – with an enlightened soul, fit body and a sharp mind, which help in creating a happier life.A team who responsibly to conducted the event our taekwondo coach Naveen sir, master Ashish kumar senior coach spartan team. A number of students participated in the tournament as school representative. Students cheered for each other during the fight, medical aid was available for any injuries during the event. Parents were delighted to see their wards participating in the event with zeal. All in all it was a very energetic and motivated environment for the students to fight out their fear and get confident to face the world.

    Result declared at the end of the event created an aura of happiness and contentment. We bagged a number of Gold, Silver and Bronze medal. The Head Mistress, Mrs Sumita Gupta, awarded the champions with the medals and certificate. School was very proud to observe the students’ achievement and their never give up attitude.

                                                                                                      FUN DAY

                                         ‘We didn’t realize we were making memories, we just knew we were having fun.’

      Gleaming faces, laughter and loads of joy surrounded the school as all the Dipsonians soaked in merry making on their last day of the academic year 2017-18. The institution left no stone unturned to make the day special and memorable one for all the children from Kindergarten to class V. Loads of fun filled activities were planned and meticulously carried out for the students. The day commenced with the screening of animated movie ‘Ferdinand’ in each class room. The students thoroughly relished the comedy and adventure in the movie. Students’ joy further multiplied when they got to hop and leap on a bouncy. Thereafter they spent time in the ‘Sand Pit Zone’, where they also climbed up a rope ladder. Children then took a dive into the ball pool to play with soft balls and exhibited their balance on an enticing play structure. They also witnessed a sensitizing puppet show based on the theme greediness which taught them to be content and not greedy. Subsequently they got to show the best of their dance moves on the dance floor. They twirled and waltzed as the arena reverberated with some foot tapping music. The day turned out to be an outstanding one as the smiling faces took back home some memories to cherish forever.

                                                            RUBELLA VACCINATION DRIVE 

                              “Take care of your body because it’s the only place you have to live in.”

        DPS, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram took the initiative to organize a ‘MMR -Rubella Vaccination Camp’ within the school premises. The camp was organised on 12th May 2018 along with the PTM to confirm maximum benefit.

        MMR vaccine, that prevents Rubella was injected only after the parents’ written consent. The willing parents, therefore took the necessary step to protect their children against three diseases: measles, mumps, and rubella. The injections were delivered by certified doctors under strict supervision.

                                                    PARENTS TEACHER MEETING

             “At the end of the day, the most positive key to a child’s success is the positive involvement of parents and teachers.”

           

          The school organized PTM for the session 2018-19 on 12th May 2018 at DPS, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram. The day witnessed enthusiastic students enter the school with their parent, eager to show them their new class rooms and introduce them to their new educators.

          Keen parents spoke to their ward’s class teacher to know about the curriculum and working procedure to be followed during the academic year. They also spoke about the performance so far and analyse the best ways to continue on the path of success. The parents were briefed about the Assignment booklets, home - work pattern, Saturday as ‘No bag day’, Periodic I exam dates, Public Speaking and Life skill classes.  They were given the minutest of details to ensure smooth functioning during the new session.

                                                     INTERNATIONAL FAMILY DAY

                                         “The love of a family is life’s greatest blessings”.

             

            To create the importance of teamwork, trust and faith in family, DPS, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram conducted an event to celebrate Family Day during PTM on 12th May 2018. The International Day of Families gives an excellent opportunity to promote the awareness about the issues related to families and to increase knowledge of the social, economic and demographic processes affecting families. To strengthen the bond among the family members further we made them participate in an athletic game to collect ball from ball pool one by one, team who collects maximum ball at the end will be the winner, Families realized the importance of communication, team work and faith in a family during the game. It was a great motivation and quality time for students with their family members. We also conducted family quiz for students and their family members to know each other better. Students felt very proud of their family because they were awarded with the ‘Best Family’ badge for actively taking part in the games. We also created awareness regarding the importance of physical exercise and healthy family, Families who play sports together build up good mental health, communication and happy atmosphere at home. Students expressed their happiness and confidence while watching their parents taking initiative to take part in various tasks. It was an energetic and entertaining event for all the families which strengthened the family units.

                Colour Belt Promotion Test

                                                                       BELT TEST DAY TAEKWONDO

                          “The right of self-defence never ceases. It is among the most sacred, and alike necessary to nations and to individuals”.

                 

                DPS, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram believes in training the students in taekwondo to learn discipline, sportsmanship and above all self-defense so that they feel fearless to face any situation with lot of courage and confidence. The institution conducted belt test for children to promote and prepare them for the next level in taekwondo.

                Students’ progress in rank by passing their promotion (belt) test. Each belt level, having a minimum set of requirements, was be tested during that day. Belt testing is normally done every 5-6 weeks.

                Grade 1 to 7 participated in the belt test event on 11th May 2018

                Grade 3 to 7 students were asked to present forms,kicks, techniques,Poomsae1 which the invigilator observed and marked.

                Grade 1 and 2 was asked verbally various forms and kicks , they also performed Poomsae 1 and they were awarded with the belts as per their knowledge. All the students received yellow belt at the end of test. Our guest of honor Mr.Anil Gaud IOA member Haryana and Vasu sharma 3rd dan black belt were thanked with a gratitude card and vote of thanks. He made children aware about the benefits of taekwondo and how it has evolved as the only game which brings utmost discipline in any individual.

                Students cherished their yellow belt achievement at the end of the test day.

                                              MOTHER’S DAY CELEBRATION

                    “Life doesn’t come with a manual, it comes with a MOTHER.”

                  Delhi Public School, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram organized an array of activities to salute Motherhood and the unconditional love all the mothers foster in their hearts, not just for their children but for everyone around them. The day highlighted the heart to heart bond a child shares with mother and was a tribute to their selfless, amazing and loving existence in a child’s life. The celebration included a kaleidoscope of activities that were designed especially to celebrate the God’s gift called ‘Mother’. Little students from classes 1 – 3 lovingly crafted dazzling heart-shaped cards for their ever doting mothers. Dipsonians from classes 4 – 7, under the guidance and supervision of their class educators, created ‘Make – up Remover’ for their new age mommies. They even tested the remover and were thrilled to see its effect. A special assembly to mark the occasion was conducted by the students of grade 7, the highlight of which was an overwhelming dance performance that showcased the essence of motherhood. The rhythmic & synchronized performance accentuated all that mothers do to make their children’s dream come true and the pride that they take when they see their children reaching the pinnacle of success. The act was well applauded and appreciated by one and all present there. Speaking on the occasion, the Head Mistress Ms. Sumita Gupta, told the students to respect their parents and put in the best of their efforts to make them proud. She urged them to always support and love their mother as they will never get another.
