                                     JANAMASHTMI CELEBRATION & INTRA CLASS FOLK DANCE COMPETITION

    Krishna Janmashtami (Lord Krishna''s Birth day) also known as ‘Krishnashtami’ is celebrated on the eighth day of Savana month. We at DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Sector 102A, Gurugram celebrated Shri Krishna Janamastmi on 31st August 2018, Friday. Students of Pre Primary grades came dressed as Kanha and Gopis.To remember the day, a story on the birth of Lord Krishna was shown to them.They adored ‘Makhan Matki&Mukut’ making activity along with its decoration with mirrors, cotton, sequences etc. An ‘Intra class Folk Dance Competition’ was organized for grade 1 to 7 at various venues in school. Each participant developed a great sense of self-esteem& motivation after the performance. Competition turned out to be a great exposure for our hidden dancers. The entire school experienced the aura of folk culture and music everywhere. All staff members and students took the blessings of Lord Krishna and received sweet prasadam as a token of love & care. We learned today that work implemented with full compassion and joy becomes a beautiful celebration.

                                                            Public Speaking Competition Certificate Felicitation

                                             ‘A person who feels appreciated will always do more than what is expected’.

        According to the most studies, people’s biggest fear is Public Speaking. If you can speak you can influence, if you can influence you can change lives. DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Sector 102A, Gurugram conducted Felicitation Ceremony on 24th August 2018 during the assembly for the best speakers in Public Speaking competition. Honorable Principal Ms. Una Roy Chowdhury awarded the certificate of appreciation to the best speakers. She congratulated and motivated students to take part in the future public speaking competitions with profound preparation. The assembly concluded with the singing of National Anthem.

                                                 RAKSHA BANDHAN CELEBRATION

                            ‘Rakhi is a thread that binds two souls in a bond of joy forever’.

          Today our Depsonians turned into little artisans while creating a beautiful bond of love on the eve of Rakshabandhan. DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Sector 102A, Gurugram celebrated Rakshabandhan by organizing a Rakhi making activity for grade I to III and LED Card making activity for grade IV to VII. Students of grade 1 to 3 created very attractive smiley Rakhi as per the theme of our life skills session. LED card making activity in grade 4 to 7 gave students insight about the circuits along with its use in decoration. The Rakhi cards were an enviable lot and a fusion of modern with traditional styles.  All the children from grade IV to VII participated with great zeal and zest in the activity where they showcased their creative ideas. The designs were so fascinating that it was very difficult to find out which one was the best.

                                                     RAKHI MAKING COMPETITION

                                         ‘Rakhi is a thread that binds two souls in a bond of joy forever’.

             

            'Raksha Bandhan' is a special occasion to celebrate the virtuous bond of love between a brother and a sister which is one of the deepest and noblest of all human emotions. To commemorate this festival, a Rakhi Making competition was organized for the tiny tots of Pre-primary grades of DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Sec 102A, Gurugram, on 24th August 2018. All students participated with great zeal and zest. The Rakhis that were made were very creative and fascinating. The idea behind organizing this event was to increase the creativity and awareness regarding the customs & rituals followed on Raksha Bandhan. Students were made aware regarding the sacred bond between a brother and a sister and how Rakhi symbolizes the sister’s love for the brother’s well-being and his lifelong vow to protect her.

                                      RHYME RECITATION AND STORY NARRATION COMPETITION

                              ‘Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words’.

               

              Rhymes are the beautiful way to express something through innocent words and actions in a melody with all smiles, giggles and enthusiasm. To enhance the confidence and speaking skills of the students, DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Sec 102 A, Gurugram organised Rhyme Recitation and Story Telling Competition on 21st August 2018 for the students of Pre Nursery, Nursery and KG. Students narrated various moral based rhymes and stories. Our young story narrators used variety of props to make their stories interesting and expressive. This competition gave an opportunity to students to exhibit their talent, memory, recapitulation skills, confidence and passion to perform. The vocabulary and voice modulations encompassed the wonderful essence of these narrators.

                                                                SENIOR CITIZEN DAY CELEBRATION

                                        ‘A little grey hair is a small price to pay for all this accumulated wisdom’

                 Ageing is part of life and no one can escape from it. To sensitize students regarding the needs of a senior citizen, ‘Senior Citizen Day’ was celebrated at DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Sector 102 A, Gurugram, on 21st August 2018. The students made exceptionally artistic handbags out of newspaper as a token of love for their grandparents. They shared the qualities of their grandparents and how do they feel when they get unconditional love from them. Grade 6 & 7 visited Tau Devi Lal Old Age Home to celebrate this important day. They greeted the elderly people with beautiful smiles, handing over the gifts they had brought for them. The students not only sang prayer and motivational songs but also danced with the elderly people spreading happiness and creating a lively atmosphere. The children interacted with the elderly people in a sensitive and insightful way listening to their talk and answering their questions. They brought a smile to the faces and a shine in the eyes of the senior people. They also realized that – To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors.

                                                           WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY DAY CELEBRATION

                               ‘Photography is the only language that can be understood anywhere in the world’

                  In photography there is a reality so subtle that it becomes more real than reality. Nothing can capture and replicate life’s memorable experiences and moments better than a camera. With this dainty tool, students of Delhi Public School, Dwarka Expressway, Sector 102A, Gurugram, expressed their opinions, interests, believes and unleash their creativity. A photography exhibition was conducted on 20th August 2018 in the school premises. The exhibition covered various types of photography including food, fine arts, wildlife, social cause etc. Our budding photographers explained their photography to the visitors. Grade 6 & 7 attended a photography workshop conducted in DPS premises by Canon team. Mr. Virender Singh, the expert photographer from Canon, made students aware regarding the techniques of clicking and using various types of cameras. Students learnt how to use camera for e.g., initial preparation, shooting etiquettes and how to hold the camera while clicking the photograph. They also learnt how to choose various shooting modes. The most interesting part of the workshop was witnessed when students got DSLR cameras in their hand to shoot and learn the skills practically. They very much enjoyed clicking different objects in nature and understood the beauty of photography through practical exposure.The workshop was inspirational which helped students to learn something different related to photography. It ended with the card and a ‘Thank You’ token to the Canon team from team DPS.

DPS, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram participated in Interschool Skating Competition ‘Aahvaan’ at The Maurya School, Gurugram on 18th August 2018.                                                          INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

                                         “True independence and freedom can only exist in doing what is right.”

                       

                      On Tuesday, 14 August 2018, Independence Day Celebrations were held at Delhi Public School, Dwarka Expressway, Sector 102A, Gurugram. The beautiful day dawned and the school was coloured in the hues of the tricolor - saffron, white and green. The whole school brimmed with the spirit of patriotism. The programme started with the pre primary grades presenting state wise dance, depicting dance forms of different states like Goa, Rajasthan, Punjab, Assam, Bengal, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. After that we noticed enthralling performance by grade 1 students on a patriotic mash up song. Pre primary students’ performance ended with the formation of India and saluting the flag together. Second half of the Independence Day celebration included primary students’ performances. The function was graced by the honorable Chief Guest, Mr. Manish Khurana, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Saket Court and his wife, Ms. Kirti Khurana. The School Director, Mr. Nitin Sawhney was also present to inspire and motivate the Team DPS on this very special day. The Flag Hoisting ceremony was held with Mr. Manish Khurana unfurling the National Flag followed by the wholehearted singing of the National Anthem by the gathering. The guests were welcomed and felicitated by our respected Principal, Ms. Una Roy Chaudhary and Head Mistress Ms. Sumita Gupta. The school celebration started with an energetic Drill Exercise by the students, succeeded by a melodious rendition ‘Bhor Bhayi’. The students of grades 3 and 4 displayed their skills in Kalairipattyu in a captivating performance. . A group folk song ‘Lal Padadi’ was presented, reminding us of the richness of our culture and traditions. The pupils of grades V, VI and VII paid their tribute to the motherland and the heroes who laid down their lives for it through their enthralling performance ‘Ae Watan’. Mrs. Kirti Khurana, addressed the gathering, highlighting the role of youth in nation building. She also stressed the significance of good values inculcated by the parents and the teachers for creating responsible citizens for the country. The Principal, Mrs. Una Roy Chaudhary gave the vote of thanks and spoke about ‘Service before self’ as the core dimension of our school and vision of education. Another group song ‘Ye Hosla’ inspired the students with its beautiful words. An evocative performance – a skit on the meaning of real freedom was enacted by the students. The highlight of the show was an electrifying performance ‘Jai Ho’ which filled the air with happiness, energy and a thunderous applause. It provided an ideal ending to the programme after which we concluded with the vote of thanks. Students also enjoyed Patriotic movie and band making activity in class, they shared few thoughts on real freedom during the activity. We are all so different but there is one thing that unites us and that is independence. The day ended on a perfect note with a prayer ‘May our flag keep soaring high and our nation prospers to great height’.

                                                                      YELLOW DAY CELEBRATION

                                                                 “How wonderful the yellow color is, it stands for the sun”

                           

                          Yellow is the color of optimism, sunshine, enlightenment, and happiness. This month Yellow color Day was celebrated in Pre - Primary grades at DPS, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram, on 10th August 2018. We celebrated this day to make students aware regarding color yellow, its significance and to develop the fine motor skills. The day began with the fun-filled introduction of the yellow color. The corridor was decorated with yellow color cutouts. Students were all dressed up in different hues and tints of yellow. The color of wisdom and intellectual energy had positive vibes on our tiny tots. Focusing on the theme, students made yellow color crafts in class. These activities help to enhance their creativity, dexterity and the skill of understanding & perceiving colors. Students enjoyed the activity and made the learning event active and sporty.

                                                                     FRIENDSHIP DAY CELEBRATION

                                                                          “Friends are the sunshine of life”

                            The dynamic students of DPS, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram celebrated the bond of friendship on 2nd & 3rd August 2018. Students were made aware regarding the importance of friendship day by celebrating ‘bring and share party’ in class. Students made friendship band in class, they tied friendship bands to our beloved Principal and Head Mistress along with the cake cutting ceremony. Pre-primary students visited primary classes to wish them friendship day. This activity was conducted with an aim to create a bond between pre-primary and primary students. Students were told the stories of friendship and thereafter, kids enjoyed dancing with the peer group. Students of primary classes interacted with teachers regarding the friends support in need. They saw videos regarding the beauty of friendship and how friends take stand instead of judging each other. Students concluded the day with ‘Happy Friendship Day’ wishes to their friends and teachers.

                                                                                PARENTS TEACHER MEETING

                                                                        ‘Good feedback is the key to improvement’.

                               

                              A Parent Teacher Meet was held at DPS, Dwarka Expressway, Sector 102A, Gurugram on 4th August 2018, Saturday to discuss the performance of students with their parent. Parents were given feedback on their wards’ performances in the assessments and behaviour in school. It was a great interaction between the teachers and the parents for the development of their children where they discussed both the strengths and areas of improvement. The progress report for the first assessment was shown to the parents and their suggestions were noted. The PTM came to an end with the conclusion that the progress of the students depends on the joint effort of parents and teachers.
