BUDDHA POORNIMA CELEBRATION
‘The mind is everything. What you think you become.’ -The Buddha
The festival of Buddha Poornima was celebrated with much aplomb at Delhi Public School, Sector 102 A, Dwarka Expressway, Gurgaon. The very important chant of ‘Buddham Sharanam Gachchami’ created a calm and placid ambience in the school premises.A serene and tranquil environment, which was aptly created by the students of classes 6 and 7, greeted the teachers and visitors at the school reception. The statue of Lord Buddha, a symbol of enlightenment, balance and inner peace, placed in a bowl of water with petals invited positive aura. Students saw the story of prince Siddhartha who renounced all the luxuries to lead an ascetic life and become Gautam Buddha, the enlightened one. They were told about the ‘Eightfold Path’ preached by the Buddha. The day witnessed students of classes 4 and 5 enthusiastically participate in classroom decoration competition on the occasion. The creative hands made colourful rangoli and lit diyas to decorate their classes. They put up great thoughts of the Buddha and his pictures on the class display board. Some students also chose to speak a few lines about his life and the positive impact that his preaching leave on one’s life.
The celebration emphasized upon love, equality and non – violence and radiated compassion.
